Benjamin J. Silliman

Middle child of 12 siblings, a devout Torah observant Christian. I work full time as a copper splicer (in training) for a living. Hobbies include music composition of course; hosting/teaching country dance, and lots of reading. Raised to be a 1 percenter my life is centered around doing things differently from the mainstream.

life as a composer

I have been a composer since i was 14, inspired by the likes of Hans Zimmer and John Williams. in those 7 years I have learned and furthered my craft in musical composition, working to better understand orchestration, sampling, sound design, etc. Am I an expert? not by any means but I do love doing what I do; always trying out new techniques, instrument combinations and sounds.

Sampling

Having grown up listening to the greats such as Hans Zimmer and Tom Holkenborg much influence has been derived from their work. creating custom sampled instruments from scratch is one of the results of said influence; using anything from cars to the human voice to create personalized instruments. this is a focus of mine to maintain creative as well as an innovative mind-set.
